Company Description: Doc Froc, a line of antimicrobial lab coats and scrubs, was created by Dr. Charles Kinder, to address the hazard of Hospital Acquired Infections directly. The lab coats and scrubs are embedded with Tri-Active, an FDA approved silver-based antimicrobial compound.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), approximately
2 million patients get hospital-acquired infections annually and 99,000 people die from them. This growing number of infections that afflict patients nationwide, cost billions of dollars to treat and are responsible for thousands of deaths each year. Studies have shown that patients with hospital-acquired infections (HAI) spend many more days in the hospital, undergo more extensive procedures and are more likely to die than patients who do not contract them.

One major culprit, many don’t consider in the accidental spread of disease, is the common lab coat and scrubs worn by medical personnel. In fact, you see them outside the hospital – nurses, doctors and medical technicians in scrubs or lab coats as they take buses and trains to work, go to lunch and wear them home. Some medical personnel wear the same unlaundered uniforms to work day after day.

Health care workers habitually touch their own uniform and studies confirm that more bacteria found on surfaces touched often by doctors and nurses, the higher the risk that these bacteria will be carried to the patient and cause infection.

• Each nosocomial infection costs $30,000 in additional hospital care (1,000 Doc Froc’s would cost the same!). Doc Froc lab coats and scrubs lower bacterial burden and prevent hospital-acquired infections, saving hospitals financial burden.
